伐株山などと並ぶ代表的なメサの溶岩台地で、この山をみた田山花袋は「巖石の王国」と表現しました。南側の頂上付近に見られる柱状節理の絶壁が美しく、南に小岩扇山、宝山とメサの山が続く景観は、旧久留島氏庭園の眺望として随所に取り入れられています。

This is a famous lava plateau that rivals others such as Mt. Kirikabu; Tayama Katai himself has described it as a “colossal kingdom of stone”. The steep columnal joints near the southern summit are beautifully sculpted, and the mesas, including Mt. Kogansen and Takarayama, stretching southwards is a stunning sight that can be enjoyed throughout the Former Kurushima Garden.
