僧円龕昭覚と逆流建順が、延文四年（1359年）からわずか1年で五百羅漢像を造立したと言われています。中央に釈迦如来坐像が安置され、両側に様々な表情・しぐさをした日本最古の五百羅漢が安置されています。羅漢とは釈迦の高弟のことです。

Engan Shougaku and Gyakuryu Kenjun are said to have made 500 Rakan statues within a year from Enbun 4. In the center lies a Shakanyorai Bodhisattva statue that is surrounded by 500 of the oldest Rakan statues in Japan, all performing a variety of expressions and gestures. Rakan is a term that refers to the Buddha’s disciples.
