羅漢寺の向かいに、怪奇な岩峰や天然橋を持った丘陵が屏風を拡げたように続いており、この一帯を古羅漢と呼びます。探勝道には、あまたの石仏、毘沙門天磨崖仏、国東塔など、岩峰・岩窟に配置された石造文化財が現存しています。このうち石造観音菩薩坐像は膝から正平17 年（1362）の年号が入ったお経と歯が発見されており、室町時代に作られたものということがわかります。

A hill with unique rock formations and natural bridges stretches out in front of Rakanji Temple like a folding screen, and is called the Furu-Rakan. Along the tourist route, one will find several stone-related cultural assets lying in caves or on rocky ridges, including a stone statue of Amata, a rock carving of Vaisravana, and the Kunisaki Tower. Furthermore, a tooth and a sutra containing an inscription of the year Shohei 17 (1362 A.D.) from the lap of the Kannon Bodhisattva statue, indicating that it was made during the Muromachi period.
