指月庵とは、中津藩主小笠原長勝によって建造された茅葺き数寄屋造りの茶室で、その庭園は羅漢寺の奥の断崖にはりつくように造られています。建物は昭和18年の本堂の火災で焼失して現存していませんが、庭園からは谷と古羅漢が一望できます。

“Shigetsuan refers to a tearoom built in the sukiya-zukuri style by the daimyo of Nakatsu, Ogasawara Nagakatsu. Its garden has been made to seemingly cling to the cliff behind the Rakanji Temple.
Due to a fire in the main hall in Showa 18, the building no longer remains, although the garden nonetheless provides a beautiful sweeping view of the valley and Furu-Rakan.”
