角埋山の山頂からは玖珠盆地が一望できます。山頂の城は天正年間の豊薩戦争で難攻不落の城として知られ、文禄３年に玖珠に入った毛利高政が石垣を持つ城に改修しました。江戸期には現在の展望所付近に藩主が茶屋をかけて遊びに来ています。

The peak of Mt. Tsunomure offers a wide view of the Kusu Basin. On this summit is a castle that was known for being impregnable during the Battle of Housatsu. It was rebuilt to have stone walls in Bunroku 3 by Mouri Takamasa, who entered Kusu. There used to be a little tea house in the Edo period, near where the observatory is now, where the feudal lord used to come for leisure.
