This monument was erected in Showa 15 at the Nakatsu-Kusu border in commendation of Murakami Dencho’s efforts for making the Nakatsu-Kusu Road a reality. It is located amongst steeply sloped valleys consisting of cliffs and curiously shaped boulders, so it is also the site of Maizuru Bridge, Japan’s oldest spiral bridge that was built in Meiji 24 and inspired by cranes dancing in loops.
